Samui Triathlon Cancelled
We regret to inform you that the Samui Triathlon 2011 is cancelled due to the severe rain and flooding in late March and early April this year. Some smaller roads are still damaged on the island.

Finally Some Good Weather!
Weather: This is the first sunny day after the flooding. The sky was partly cloudy in the morning but clear blue after 2 pm! All people here are obviously very happy about this!

Weather Update
I have been abroad and in a remote village in northern Thailand so I have been unable to update the weather during the flooding and I am very sorry for that! From now on I will bring my MacBook wherever I go.
Our thoughts is with all people affected by the flooding in southern Thailand!
The 4169 ring road is almost water free by now, but Tesco Lotus in Lamai is still closed and some 7-Eleven (and other) stores and shops has to be renovated. The sun is now shining over Koh Samui and the sky is clear blue. Thank you Mother Earth!

NuCoastal to Start Drilling?
NuCoastal (Thailand) expects to start drilling for oil and gas, 42 kilometers from Koh Samui, before the end of this year. There has been massive protests against the drilling among the locals in Koh Samui.

Walking Street in Maenam
Also Maenam has now it's own "walking street" on Thursday evenings. This means that the street is closed for traffic and that vendors sell anything from fried rice and drinks to flip flops. This tradition is already existing in Lamai, Nathon and Bo Phut.

Watch Out for Burglars
Unfortunately burglaries are occurring from time to time on these islands, but you can do something:
1. Close and lock your windows while sleeping or while going out.
2. Keep values (money, jewelry, laptops, cameras etc) in a safety box or with you.
3. Talk with your neighbors and help each other to be a little alert in the neighborhood.
4. Make sure that your valuable belongings are insured.
