Sunny Days Continues

Nui and kids

Yesterday I fell asleep really early and I was completely limp. Today I did not go to the gym but the same tiredness settled in as yesterday but somewhat earlier, today I at least woke up so I could write a bit. Recently, I have had too little sleep and that is now taking its toll. Scary when you get so tired that you just cannot fight it to stay awake. It is very rare for me to get that tired, but an important factor in the whole thing is probably the hard training that takes an awful lot of power when the body is getting repaired. I have also had a little bit sore throat, which again is something I often get when I train hard. I usually do not bother and it disappears. It is a strange kind of sore throat and if I would feel sick, I would not train.

For Nui, it was a quite ok day, she came home already about four, then I was hungry for hamburgers, so I was looking for her when she called and told me she was already home. I went back and when I got home did I did a delicious chicken burger. Nui mainly sell coffee and Thai ice tea and she is the only one doing that. Many people say it is very good because they never seen it before. Other people mainly sell Som Tam and fruits so this is very fortunate. I think that hamburgers are more attractive in the evenings and that she want to try as well but not right now. It was good to get a ride away from home when I wandered around looking for Nui. It was great weather and very hot. The fatigue that I did not feel at that time was probably the factor for feeling a little distracted while working at home and it was very annoying, so it was nice when it came to my mind that it is likely that was because I was to tired.

I worked some more after I had eaten and two neighbor children came running and shouting for Nui. They wanted to have the red lemonade called Haylies Blue Boy, I think that is what it is called. In Thailand, everyone say something like, Hell Bo Boy. The kids bounced around while Nui mixed the lemonade and then they disappeared as quickly as they arrived. Previously, we have hardly seen the kids who usually stays in the road behind the house. There is one downside with having access to good iced tea and other things, it is easy to get tempted. They are quite sweet drinks, and nothing that I drink a lot of even if it would not be a problem to drink a lot at all since they taste very good. I do not eat hamburgers very often either, but more often than if Nui would not sell it, quite naturally. The only unhealthy in those burgers are the white bread and I do not eat any bread other than that so for my part I can eat whatever I want without having to think about it, I eat extremely good food in general.

Now I will eat a second dinner and then watch some TV, I hope I will sleep well tonight and sleep until the morning. Wonderful with early mornings if 8-9 can be considered early morning. As always, have a nice weekend, I will.

Lamai Burgers Available

Forrest Buffalo

Yesterday we tried to sleep earlier than usual, but it is always hard to sleep when you are used to stay up late. After midnight it started to rain, and not only for some minutes but it kept raining for at least a few hours. It was not a heavy rain but still rain. During the days it hardly never rains and most days it has been more sun than clouds.

Today was the first day for Nui to use the sidecar. She did not have to leave the house at first since people who were passing by saw the neighbors getting burgers and coffee and also wanted a treat. She noticed that the frying pan had a very limited space to reach in under to put the gas burner on fire because they had welded a protection frame and only left a small hole which unfortunately was to small. I helped her to lift the pan up so she could light it from above instead. After some fixing and trixing while also serving costumers Nui headed off.

After a few hours she came back home, she had sun out of ice. We made some food and then took of to the shop that fixed the protection frame so they could cut a bigger hole so that it would be easier to light the gas. That was done in just minutes. Tomorrow afternoon we will leave the sidecar to the shop again so they can adjust the height if the gas burner. It is sitting to close to the pan so it gets to hot. We thought it was better to place it like this and thought it might be the other way around. Other from those things it all seems to work just fine.

Yesterday when we went shopping at Macro I saw a nice surprise while passing the Bangkok Hospital. Before I thought the roadwork would only make the road wider and also dig better draining systems for the rainwater but now I saw that they are actually making a sidewalk along the Chaweng road. That will not only look great but just as in Maenam people will be able to take walks in a safer environment. I wonder how long the sidewalk section will be and also if they will make sidewalks on the southern end of the island as well. While taking a shorter trip on the roads behind the house I saw this buffalo standing on the hillside and I thought it looked very harmonic. He kept staring at me until I started the bike again, he probably wondered what I was about to do in the middle of nowhere.

Now it is soon time to sleep, or at least try to. I do like to stay up late but I like even more to have long days and to wake up early in the morning without any alarm set and just feel completely rested. For me it does not matter how long I sleep. If I sleep the wrong hours I just do not feel rested.

Big Snake Attacks!

Snake at SamuiSnake at Samui

Today we got the sign attached to the sidecar. In the morning we went to the store and left the sidecar so they could attach the printed sign which by the way looked great. After that we went back home and I did some work.

When we arrived i saw a guy sitting on his bike on the street just outside the house talking to his friend on the phone. He had found some shadow from the hot sun which today was more hot than in a long time. After a while I saw a girl pointing and almost as she tried to get contact with me. I looked out and thought she was pointing to the dead King Cobra baby laying by the road but then I saw that she pointed to the house and the other guy just stared too so I went outside. I saw the neighbor cat and then, just a second later I also saw the huge snake. It was about to launch himself on the cat and I did not want that to happen so I threw a shoe at the snake. It hit him in the head but he stayed focused at the cat. I asked if they knew if this snake was poisonous and they said that this one is deadly. I though I had seen one of these before and that i read that they are not dangerous but that one was a lot smaller and I could not remember really and I certainly did not felt like taking the risk getting. On the other hand I wanted to help the cat so I took a broomstick and tried to flip him away a bit just to make him release his focus from the cat. In a split second the snake attacked me and I ran back. The Thai guys crapped their pants and so did I. I really got scared. I am not scared of snakes in general but I am not stupid either. The snake lost the focus and got looked on something under the house. The cat stayed for a second and then took off. At this point Nui was on the phone with the police to get them to send someone to pick this snake up. More people had come by and they all said that this one is dangerous and that they never seen anything as big as this one. I had to push the snake again so that he focused on us instead of getting away under the house and I tried to flip him away again but this time, even if I was prepared, he really scared the hell out of me. He threw his body towards me and then also came after me for about one meter with his mouth open. A behavior I had never seen before, as taken from a bad snake horror movie. Every time he got angry he also made the body slim but 2 or 3 times as tall as before. This time I actually thought he would get me and I got surprised that he was that extremely fast and also chased after me, not only the classic attack.

One of the neighbor guys returned with a long bamboo stick with a fishing line attached in one end shaped as an O. He caught the snake on the first attempt and it started to roll and also tried to crawl up along the bamboo stick and when that did not work he was about to play dead when the fishing line broke. He then took off to the same direction he entered just as if he knew all the time that he could get away but really wanted the cat. Just a few minutes after an ambulance arrived which had been sent out to catch the snake. I ran in and checked on the internet and found out that the snake was non poisonous and it was the same kind as I had seen before. It is called a Copperhead Racer. So if he returns at least I know he is not dangerous but I would rather not get bitten anyway since they certainly have many sharp teeth.
