  
Samui Island
Koh Samui (เกาะสมุย in Thai language) is the island of the coconut trees and the third largest island in Thailand (only Phuket and Koh Chang are larger by size).
The total area is about 247 km² and it is located in the Gulf of Thailand, 700 km South of Bangkok in the Surat Thani province. There is a 55 kilometer long ring road on the island which makes it convenient to travel from beach to beach.
Well known beaches are Chaweng, Lamai, Bophut, Big Buddha, Choeng Mon, Hua Thanon and Maenam. Samui do also has many sister islands; Koh Tao (top diving destination in Asia), Koh Phangan (known for it's Full Moon Party etc.), Angthong National Marine Park, Koh Tan and the spectacular Koh Nang Yuan.

Did You Know?
There were no roads or cars on Samui until early 40's, but in 1973 a 52 km long concrete road was built around the island.
The airport on Koh Samui was built in 1989 and it was renovated in 2007. It is considered as one of the most beautiful airports in the world. A Bangkok Airways flight schedule is found here.

New Layout - Again
We were not so happy with the last "renovation" of Kohsamui.org (last year) so we are currently changing it again. We will also try to make the site even more user friendly during the process. The new version will be online within two weeks.

About us
Our objective is to offer an informative and user friendly site that is updated daily, or at least several times a week.
All members of our team is currently living on the Samui island and the first version of the website was launched in February, 1999. Until this day, it has had more than 4,5 million unique visitors.
